'G' is for Golf

There are two beautiful golf courses on Bainbridge Island. On the Northern side of the island is the Meadowmeer Golf and Country Club. Wing Point Golf & Country Club is on the Eastern side, close to downtown Winslow. Both are surrounded by peaceful and well-known neighborhoods.

Not being a golfer or member to either club myself, I can't say I know much about them. My impression has been though that Wing Point is more country-club-like, with more amenities offered. When comparing their websites (which in my opinion is an important part of a business' image), Wing Point's looks MUCH nicer. It is well designed and very user-friendly. Sadly, Meadowmeer's only contains some upcoming events and general information.

This isn't to say that Meadowmeer isn't nice! All I can really say to judge as someone with little knowledge of either club is that Wing Point gives off a more friendly and polished first impression based on their websites.

Let's see how the prices of residential homes compare in the two Country Club neighborhoods. In the last six months, the average selling price of a home in the Meadowmeer area was $647,400 with the average cost per square feet approximately $210.12 (based on the avg. sq ft of the homes). Around Wing Point, these figures were $681,286 and $284.9/sq. ft. So with this generalization of the past six months, we see that the prices aren't tremendously differing. The average price of a Wing Point home averaged $33,886 more than a Meadowmeer home. This may be due not only to the Club itself but the fact that Wing point is close to town and the ferry. Still, it is interesting to see how the prices of real estate differ for these areas.

'F' is for the Ferry

The Washington State Ferry system is not only a convenient way of traveling. For commuters, it is a relaxing way to distance themselves from work while enjoying the beauty of the Puget Sound. For visitors, it is one of the "must-have" experiences for visiting the Pacific Northwest. The ferry system has become a landmark (OK, maybe we could call it a "seamark"?) of the area, along with the Space Needle or Pike Place Market. Even as a life-long resident of Bainbridge Island, I am continuously stunned by the gorgeous scenery that can be witnessed during a 35-minute ferry ride. Sunsets & Rises, Mountain Ranges, The Seattle City-Scape... all so beautiful from the middle of the Puget Sound!!!

Just the other day I was coming home from Seattle, and on one side of the boat there was the city-scape; the other side was Bainbridge Island with the mountains behind it and very low clouds which looked almost like snow. It was a very interesting effect--and thanks to being on the ferry, I was able to enjoy it!

'E' is for ... Extraordinary Island Properties!

My mind regressed back to kindergarten when the first 'e' word that popped into my head was 'elephant.' Regretfully, Bainbridge Island tends to lack in exotic animals. But hey, luckily the whole reason for this blog just happens to begin with an 'e'!

Indeed, the homes and properties on Bainbridge are definitely Extraordinary. The Island's beauty is such an important feature, so it follows that we try to keep it in tact and build our homes in such a way as to fully enjoy that beauty. And there are different styles to suit different lifestyles. There are beautiful waterfront homes outlining the island, plots of land for building or gardening, homes close to downtown Winslow for convenience, and so much more!

A gorgeous waterfront condo has just come on the market that is a must-see! It sits on the shore of Eagle Harbor, so it not only has spectacular views, it is just seconds from the ferry and downtown! It has 2 bedrooms plus a home office that can be converted to an additional bedroom, and two full baths. Features include a gourmet kitchen, sumptuous bath with radiant floor heat, and a fully finished garage. Offered at $1,395,000. Go to www.johnlscott.com/15021 for more information.

There are so many extraordinary homes on this Island just waiting to be explored. 'D' is for [nice] Drives!

Ok, I kind of cheated... In trying to think up 'd' words, I remembered a drive I went on a few weeks ago with a friend. Fortunately the sun was shining perfectly, and my friend owns a convertible. We toured all around Bainbridge, mostly stayed around the waterfront and just enjoyed the scenery. I would highly recommend a drive like this if you are visiting Bainbridge. It doesn't take long to drive the circumference of the island, as it is only 27.78 square miles. I think we were out for about and hour or two, but it could be as long or as short as desired!

Take a picnic! There are so many beautiful spots that are perfect for picnicking while enjoying your surroundings. Some that come to mind are Point White, Battle Point Park, Fay Bainbridge, Fort Ward, and Waterfront Park. Even in September, the days are still warm and gorgeous!
