The Washington State Ferry system is not only a convenient way of traveling. For commuters, it is a relaxing way to distance themselves from work while enjoying the beauty of the Puget Sound. For visitors, it is one of the "must-have" experiences for visiting the Pacific Northwest. The ferry system has become a landmark (OK, maybe we could call it a "seamark"?) of the area, along with the Space Needle or Pike Place Market. Even as a life-long resident of Bainbridge Island, I am continuously stunned by the gorgeous scenery that can be witnessed during a 35-minute ferry ride. Sunsets & Rises, Mountain Ranges, The Seattle City-Scape... all so beautiful from the middle of the Puget Sound!!!
Just the other day I was coming home from Seattle, and on one side of the boat there was the city-scape; the other side was Bainbridge Island with the mountains behind it and very low clouds which looked almost like snow. It was a very interesting effect--and thanks to being on the ferry, I was able to enjoy it!
